Poodle Breed Info
The Poodle is considered one of the most intelligent of the dog breeds. They love to be with their family and get along great with children, other animals and even strangers. This breed is ideal for their temperament and trainability. The Poodles have the smarts and willingness to please. They are not super high strung, they are willing to play then lay down for a cuddle. The Poodles have coats that are wavy or curly. They come in a wide variety of colors.
Basic training for these puppies should start as soon as you bring them home. They are very intelligent so training is easy. Poodles are an easy going yet active breed that need some kind of activity every day. Their energy level is a medium and would be perfect for anyone that likes to lounge around the house or go on an outside adventure to the outdoors.
The Poodle is a loyal, mellow, lovable breed with all the qualities we love for a furever family member! They make great family dogs and generally do well with kids of all ages. They have a friendly demeanor which can make for a great service/therapy candidate or simply a wonderful family dog!
The Poodle has curly hairs which appear quite thick. It can be curly or wavy. They can come in a wide variety of colors. A variety of colors and coat textures can appear in the same litter. The poodle is considered hypoallergenic and usually sheds very little to none.
They should be brushed weekly to stay maintained. It would also be wise to have them groomed every couple of months. Poodles will shed little to none.
Standard Poodles generally range from 18+ inches at the shoulder and can weigh between 40-70+ pounds. Moyen (medium size) Poodles generally range from 15-17 inches at the shoulder and can weigh between 25-40 pounds. Mini Poodles stand 10-15inches and are generally 10-25 lbs and Toy Poodles are no more than 10 inches and under 10 lbs. Females tend to be smaller than males.
